Hey, daydreamers! This is a small list of some things I do when feeling overwhelmed. I hope that this helps you get some ideas, or that some of these things are similar coping mechanisms that you use! 💖
Checking my email-
It’s such a simple task, but it makes me feel more organized and in control!
Giving myself a moment of peace-
When I have a million things to do, can’t find something, or am stressed about everything going on, sometimes I just lay down. I put my phone on silent and put a fifteen minute timer. I rest, try to clear my mind. The timer reassures me when I think “But I have to do (insert task)!” I’ll do it in fifteen minutes.
Make a list of things I MUST do-
This might seem counterproductive, but by doing this I organize my thoughts, and can focus on one thing at a time.
Self care-
This is so important when Im feeling emotionally drained and mentally overwhelmed. It really depends on the day, but if I have the energy I’ll write, take a nap, soak in the tub. Do something for me, and shut out the world for an hour.
Speak up-
It helps me when I can talk about how I’m feeling. Usually I don’t like telling anyone, so I’ll sit in front of the mirror and tell myself it will be okay. I let myself be weird and make myself laugh at how dumb I’m being because it helps to not take things so seriously all the time!
Pray-
A very important thing that I occasionally forget to do in times of need. When I’m dealing with a lot of anxiety, I tend to shut down. It’s hard to function, so I hit up my boy Jesus and get advice from him.

The past month has been difficult, and I find myself needing this tips more and more. The worst thing is to let everything build up until you become so overwhelmed that everything starts going downhill!
Remember that the simple things work, and your feelings are valid and important.
